The biggest market and the hardest one
Benidorm has 77,211 residents and 26,862 of them hold a foreign passport: 34.8 %. On top of the residents there is the visitor traffic, which is what makes Benidorm different from every other town we work in: a large part of the searches for your business are made by somebody who arrived three days ago, does not know a single street name and is deciding between you and four others within two hundred metres.
That is also why the competition is brutal. In Benidorm every hotel, restaurant and bar has somebody doing this, and a lot of them have been doing it for years. We will tell you plainly if your budget is not enough to move a particular search here, rather than take it and report impressions.

What works in Benidorm, and what does not
What works: a Google listing that is genuinely complete, photographs that are recent, and reviews that keep arriving. In a saturated map, those are the three things that still separate businesses.
What rarely works: trying to rank for the most generic searches in town on a small budget. It is better to win the searches for your street, your speciality and your language than to lose the ones everybody is fighting over.
Advertising makes more sense here than in the villages, precisely because the visitor traffic is constant and searching. But only once the listing and the site are worth sending clicks to.
Resident, tourist, and the searches are not the same
Benidorm has two markets sitting on top of each other. There are the 77,211 residents, who look for a dentist, a garage and a supermarket like anywhere else. And there is the visitor, who arrived three days ago, does not know a single street name, and searches for what is near them right now.
They behave completely differently. The resident compares and asks around; the visitor opens the map and rings the first result with photographs and recent reviews. If your business lives on the second group, the listing is not part of your marketing: it is your marketing.
Competing when everybody is already doing this
Benidorm is the hardest town on this coast, and pretending otherwise would be doing you a disservice. Hotels and restaurants here have had somebody working on their visibility for years, and the broadest searches are expensive to win.
What works instead is being specific. Your street, your speciality, your language, your kind of customer. «Restaurant Benidorm» is a war; «gluten free restaurant Rincón de Loix» is a search somebody makes with their card already out. That is where we would put your money, and we will tell you plainly if the budget you have is not enough for the search you are asking about.
